Paproski new COO at Canada ICI; eXp Realty adds managing director

Canada ICI Capital Corporation has appointed longtime industry executive and manager Margaret Paproski as its chief operating officer. 

With more than 20 years of experience, Paproski has led teams across investment banking, structured finance, legal advisory and financial operations, most recently as founder and chief operating officer of InvestDEFY Technologies.

“Her deep expertise in structured finance, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency will be instrumental in driving our next phase of growth,” said Dale Klein, founder and chief executive officer of Canada ICI, in the announcement.

Before joining Canada ICI, Paproski structured more than $3 billion in financial products, and she has worked with Lehman Brothers, Midnight Sun Financial and KPMG Canada.

New managing director for eXp Realty

eXp Realty (EXPI-Q) recently promoted Nadia Habib as managing director of eXp Realty Canada.

Since joining eXp Realty in 2022 as a broker, Habib has held a number of progressively senior positions with the company. 

She previously spent 17 years working with Century 21 in London, Ont., where she managed more than 300 people and tripled the size of the business over a 10-year period.

Alvarado accepts new position with Newmark

Newmark Group (NMRK-Q) has chosen Lou Alvarado to fill the firm’s newly created role of chief operating officer. 

Alvarado will report to CEO Barry Gosin and will work with the company’s executive committee. Alvarado joined Newmark in 2015 as executive vice-president and Boston market leader. 

Prior to joining Newmark, Alvarado was president east region for Cushman & Wakefield and is a founding partner of Insight Partners, which developed and managed more than two million square feet of commercial, retail, residential and industrial properties.

New appointments at Centum Financial

Centum Financial Group recently announced a number of leadership appointments, including Adrian Schulz as president.

Schulz joined the firm in 2021 and most recently served as executive vice-president. He also serves as president of Imperial Properties, is a director with MREA Services, and is a member of FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation and the Institute of Corporate Directors.

He succeeds Chris Turcotte, who resigned after eight years as president to join Real Mortgage Associates.

In addition, Caroline Rapson has been promoted to vice-president of operations. She has been part of Centum since its inception in 2002. Rapson previously served as director of membership. 

New vice-president for CBP Capital

CBP Capital recently welcomed Marshall Elliott as senior vice-president, fund management. Elliott brings over 15 years of experience in real estate investment before joining CBP, the investment division of Colonnade BridgePort.

Prior to joining CBP Capital, Elliott led the investments team for BentallGreenOak, where he oversaw more than $4 billion in transactions. Previously, he was also a member of the corporate finance team at First Capital REIT.

Chênevert, Barruel join Artifact Group

Hospitality property owner and operator Artifact Group has announced two key leadership appointments. Bernard Chênevert joins as vice-president of operations, and Louis Barruel transitions to vice-president of asset management and investments.

Chênevert brings extensive leadership to his new role. Known for his tenure as general manager of the InterContinental Montreal, Chênevert earned the general manager of the year award in 2011 within the InterContinental Hotel Chain (Americas division). 

As vice-president of operations, Chênevert has a goal to double Artifact Group’s room count and AUM within three years. 

Barruel will help guide Artifact Group’s expansion through new deals and investment opportunities. 

Another advisory board member for Hyyve

Hyyve has appointed luxury real estate expert Peter Torkan to its advisory board. 

With more than $1.6 billion in luxury transactions, Torkan ranks among the top agents globally at The Agency RE, and he has a starring role on Amazon Prime’s Luxe Listings Toronto

Torkan is also CEO of Torkan Development Group and creator of the Luxe Listing Mastery course. 

SHDM adds Plamondon, Pilon to board

The City of Montreal and the non-profit Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal (SHDM) have invited two executives to its board of directors.

Roger Plamondon and Jean-Sébastien Pilon will sit on the SHDM board. The mandates for Jean-Jacques Bohémier as chair, and Danielle Cécile and Alain Lapointe as directors, have also been renewed.

Plamondon has more than 40 years of experience in real estate and development. From 2006 until his retirement in 2023, he was president, real estate development and acquisitions at Broccolini. He has served as an external resource on the SHDM audit, finance, and risk management committee since 2024.

Pilon has more than 25 years of experience in information technology and information security. He has worked for many companies, including IBM, GIRO and Desjardins. 

He served as an external resource on the SHDM investment management committee since June 2023.

Four new execs join Savills Canada

Savills has boosted its investment sales team in its Montreal office. 

Jean-Pierre Gagnon and Robert Metcalfe have joined the firm as executive vice-presidents, Noémie Lefebvre is now a senior director and Olivier Dufault-Gagnon becomes an associate with the commercial real estate advisory firm.

Gagnon and Metcalfe each bring more than 30 years of experience, with extensive knowledge in providing investment sales and portfolio advisory services. 

Lefebvre brings more than 15 years of experience to Savills, and Dufault-Gagnon has five years of experience along with a background in research and technology.

Avison Young appoints principals

Avison Young recently announced the hirings of Gabrielle Saine and Shlomo Benarroch as principals.

Saine and Benarroch each have 17 years of commercial real estate experience and their collaborative efforts have resulted in 958 closed transactions valued at more than $1.23 billion, covering nearly 45 million square feet of sold and leased industrial space.

Both will focus on advising occupiers and investors on industrial real estate requirements for Avison Young.

Fediuc joins Colliers Canada

Amanda Fediuc has joined Colliers Canada (CIGI-T) as managing director, Toronto North on the brokerage leadership team.

Fediuc returns to Colliers after more than a decade at CBRE where she held progressively more senior leadership roles in both human resources and sales. She was the former managing director, Southwestern Ontario. 

Her first exposure to commercial real estate began at Colliers in 2011, where she spent over three years with the people services team.
